Bringing Understanding & Compassion to Your Anxiety

Fear was essential for our survival as a species in the early days of humanity, we wouldn’t have made it without it. If we hadn’t learned from our mistakes and had persisted to run towards big, hungry-looking cats we wouldn’t be here now.

And instinctive fears still serve us today – we should be alarmed if we start to fall backwards, or a car speeds towards us. But it is anxious thoughts that bite the hardest now, night and day – anxiety about what might happen, ruminations about the past, what we’ve seen on the news, and it doesn’t let up.

So despite humans’ longevity, anxiety is still rampant in our minds and in our communities. In February this year the Office of National Statistics reported that a third of UK-based adults reported high anxiety. While the American Psychiatric Association’s 2026 Mental Health Poll reported that 48% of U.S. adults feel more anxious than they were the previous year.

And the news/media creators don’t help – they keep sending the message we should be more afraid. ‘The fear is getting louder, there isn’t more crime, just more news coverage’ Tom Jacobs, evolutionary astrologer, medium and channel, says.

There is a constant invitation to indulge in fear… fear is seductive. But you disarm fear when you are compassionate, Tom explains, so be willing to generate love no matter what’s happening. A big part of his message was that the human mission is to go from fear to love.

Decide that you can’t use the fears of others to tell you who you are, be aware and open-hearted but don’t carry fear.

‘If you see the world through a love frequency’, Tom says, ‘then unloving things can’t come to you, they can’t find you. The news says things are worse than ever – this is an opportunity to accept fear, but you can vibrate differently by choice.’ We are all powerful creators, it’s a shame that many don’t realise the truth of that.

Here are some suggested antidotes of love:

Meditation

Loving kindness meditation

Gratitude

A diet full of alkalising, natural foods

Ditch the alcohol, sugar and ultra processed foods

Exercise

Time in nature

Socialise with happy, grounded people

Uplifting, inspiring books, TV, music and movies

Ditch thrillers, horrors, and violence on TV, movies and in books

Positive News magazine

Creative activities

  1. This is so true! And if more and more of us started seeing things through a love frequency, imagine the positive impact we’d have on the whole world.

  2. Lovely to reconnect Hanna in this way. During this long beautiful Summer – but devastating to plants and nature – we were concerned about our flora and fauna and tried to help wherever we could and still they were getting burned and thirsty and …..literally dying before our eyes. And it pains us all to watch and wait for ‘nature’ to do it – for us.
It must be a wake up call for us all – we HAVE to care MORE than we understand. We have to care for ALL and everything that has been given the gift of LIFE.
And – in a way – it’s a FREE gift – just to care about each other – food and water – yes but gentle words – a true listening ear – a smile of warmth – and a recognition that there are some truly very lonely people surrounding us who are just crying out – for that simple attention – and sadly more often than not don’t recognise – the simple gestures we all ‘need’ and mostly – each soul has been given that GIFT of giving and helping ‘another’ to mend or feel safe and ‘loved’ enough to find that inner search – that small green shoot – in order to keep growing and passing on …
As we have perhaps been able to do for all of nature – we have endeavoured to do this Summer.

I have now subscribed to the Positive News magazine, too. I was previously unaware of its existence. xxx
