How to be Your own Immunity-boosting Kinesiologist During the Lockdown

There’s one part of the human anatomy that is all of a sudden in everyone’s awareness – the immune system. Who comes down with the Covid-19 virus seems quite random, and we still don’t know what factors are involved in getting it, apart from being elderly or those with a pre-existing health condition rendering their immune systems weaker. This is a scary pandemic, a deadly flu, however we do know it is a flu virus and with most of us having recovered from a version of the flu at some point in our lives and known the steps to take to avoid getting it at other times, taking steps to supercharge our own and our loved ones’ immunity, being our own kinesiologists, can only be a good thing - we can increase our chances of more easily fighting the virus off or not get symptoms at all.

Here are some tips and ideas to achieve your best possible immunity by covering all angles in the 360 degree approach I take within sessions with clients, regardless of the issue – mental, chemical, physical, and energetic.

A Calm, Positive Mind Boosts Flu-fighting Abilities

How we respond to stresses in life – either calmly and with optimism, or anxiously and not very well at all - has a direct impact on our immune system. The brain, and nervous and immune systems communicate and share information, so it’s beneficial for your immune system to stay positive and calm.

Are you finding yourself resorting to old not-coping-well-at-all behaviours when under stress? Do you feel scattered, anxious, depressed, angry, unable to settle? Maybe you’re not sleeping well, over eating comfort food or not eating at all? With a state of mind such as this we might reach for distractions just to get through the day and avoid these painful feelings, but that don’t actually make us feel any better – such as bingeing on food, watching horror/action/thriller films which can actually raise our stress hormones, or maybe taking up old habits you have worked hard to quit/reduce like smoking, drinking.

What do you normally genuinely enjoy doing when you feel calm or when you have felt calm and content in the past that you can replace creeping bad habits with? Have a think and devote time to these relaxing things. Here are some suggestions: read a comforting familiar book, have a bath, do some gardening, bake, take up a craft hobby, meditate, listen to positive/inspirational speakers like Eckhart Tolle or Actualised.org, send heart-warming videos and funny memes to friends and family to give them a lift.

Take in The Right Fuel For You

The contents of what we take into our bodies – food, drink, air, and the products we use on our skin – is good to stay conscious of. Water – we know we should drink more of it, but many of us don’t like it. Kinesiologists know the trillions of cells that make up a human body can’t work properly without adequate water, and our immune systems also need water to function well. A good amount is 2 litres of clean, filtered (still, not carbonated) water a day for adults.
There are so many nutritional supplements out there, it can be hard to know what to choose from! In my treatments I will want to include the following in my testing to discover what’s needed to boost a client’s flu-fighting immunity: vitamin A, B, C, D, E and zinc, probiotics and more.
A gentle plant-based digestive aid such as Proactazyme from Lily & Loaf would be an excellent addition to take with meals, as digestion is linked to and important for strong immunity. If our digestive abilities are below par so will our immunity be.
Do your best to avoid the four main offenders in your daily meals/snacks – refined sugar, wheat, cow’s dairy, table salt – these foodstuffs tax the digestion system and so negatively impact the immune system as well.

How Moving Can Help Your Immunity

Movement encourages lymph, the cell-less, clear fluid that carries nutrients around the body and eliminates toxins, to flow. We are only as healthy as the fluids running through our bodies. Having the heart working through exertion, and getting some feel-good hormones (endorphins) going are also very good. Exercise also helps release stress, so engage in your favourite forms of exercise or try out some exercise classes online 3-4 times a week. I’m enjoying some dance aerobic workouts and spin classes I’ve found on YouTube.

Energy - Inside & Out

There is a kinesiology technique to balance the chakras, and the aura which has now been scientifically proven to exist. How we feel inside emanates outwards and vice versa – what happens outside us has an affect on the inside, including our use of devices. It is a good idea to become aware of and reduce time spent using mobile phones, computers, TV etc. The radiation these give off can harm our health so you may like to look into EMF protection measures such as Energy Dots to place on devices, other helpful products are organites, salt lamps and crystals including shungite. It’s good to support the body to detox from, and reduce any build-up of radiation as it’s just another strain on the body that can be minimised, helpful supplements include vitamin A in the form of beta carotene, vitamin C and E, CoQ10, essential fatty acids, calcium, magnesium, and zinc.

I hope this has been helpful to bring your awareness to how you can do more to promote your best health through your diet and lifestyle choices, being your own kinesiologist, and have more confidence in your immunity, while still taking the recommended precautions to wash hands and maintain physical distance from others outside of your household. You know your body best, so it’s always good to do what you feel most drawn to.
