Resolving Hip Pain for a Yoga Teacher – Clara’s story

A yoga teacher friend had had hip pain for 20 years and was keen to have some kinesiology help while visiting me. On starting the session I intuitively knew this related to old hurts, and when asked Clara told me it had started shortly after leaving a long-term relationship at age 30. On testing potentially relevant muscles I found that her piriformis was weak and a priority, this is a circulation/sex-related muscle in the hip area. The element this muscle relates to is Fire and the emotion when imbalanced is lack of joy.

So while working to correct Clara’s piriformis muscle I again intuitively knew that the lack of joy was stemming from childhood. On exploring this we got to her father, his alcoholism, estrangement from the family and tragic drinking-related death years before. This brought forth a big release of tears. Following some further balancing work the piriformis muscle retested strong, there may be more work to do however – a 20-year hip issue won’t clear in just one session.

’Anything can cause or fix anything’

Now in kinesiology we learn that anything can cause or fix anything. It is well known and accepted in the spiritual/health conscious communities that emotions can get stuck in the body and express themselves in a physical way as a call for us to resolve it and let go. If unheard it can get louder and louder as time passes so that we change our behaviour and come to avoid the long walks in nature we used to enjoy and certain yoga postures in Clara’s case. Left unaddressed over time this could lead to increased, constant pain, an inability to walk any distance, heavy reliance on painkillers and maybe ultimately a misdiagnosis of arthritis and then on to a hip replacement.

Back home in Essex a few days later Clara reported back to say: “Before it was painful to lift my leg if I was laying down (helpful when teaching yoga) and I could feel muscles up my back also starting to pull…now it’s much better and I can lift it.
I still need to be careful as there is more stabilising to do. I looked up some exercises to help stabilise the illiosacral joint that I think is helping too.”

”Hanna has a great gift of making me feel safe and relaxed enough that I can let go, including tears that I didn’t know were going to come. I love that she uses her intuitive abilities along with crystals and cards and all sorts of tools.

The other thing I feel is that I am not being told what I should do, or that I am being judged in any way, just held in a very loving space to see what emerges. I appreciate that she does her own inner and energetic work so that she can hold this space for me to go through my stuff and release what is ready to go. Thank you Hanna.”

Acknowledging the old emotional pain and forgiving her father was very significant, alongside the physical kinesiology work. Clara’s hip pain could instead have been down to an old injury, constipation as there are also large intestine-related muscles in the hips, traumas, or even a long session in the dentist’s chair as somehow structurally there is a link between the jaw and the hips. Dehydration can also be the root cause of hip issues as kidney-related muscles run through this area. Grief and anxiety could be other stuck emotions here as they are connected to the large intestines and kidneys respectively.

To build on the healing already taken place I recommended Clara continue to use her intuition to find out what will help her and take action on it, she can also book in another session with me online, as she lives a long drive away.
